Efficient Lighting
Nearly 20% of global electricity generation is used for lighting - more than is produced by all hydro or nuclear stations.
Compact Fluorescent Lights are well known to use less energy to provide the same light output as incandescent bulbs (which are only 5% efficient), last up to 10 times longer, while giving out a warm, inviting light. Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights last 10 times longer again and are rapidly evolving into mainstream lighting applications. Differing fluorescent lights can vary in efficiency from 15%-60%, and for some street lighting applications other technologies are most appropriate.
Based on an Australian-Government-approved methodology, Biosphere Capital can advise on a range of lighting and lighting control systems for industry and municipalities. The result is a comparison of cost and emissions savings for a range of lighting technologies.
