Management team

Dr Wilfred M. Walsh
Managing Director, Singapore

Wilfred Walsh (BSc(Hons), MSc, PhD), the company founder, has over 20 years experience in research and management roles within academia and industry. Dr Walsh has worked on astrophysics, physics and technology research at CSIRO Australia, Max-Planck Gesellschaft, Germany and Harvard University, USA, specializing in radio detectors and installations in Antarctica, where he wintered-over in 2002, managing the South Pole AST/RO observatory and studying the upper atmosphere. Dr Walsh has been a partner of HCI Pty Ltd, a Sydney technology consultancy, has acted as an adviser to the Australian government on research policy, and was awarded a US congressional medal and bar in 2003 for his services to Antarctic research. Dr. Walsh is responsible for the strategic direction of Biosphere Capital and manages CDM project administration and new business development.

Mr Amir Hasidim
Managing Director, Israel

Amir Hasidim, based in Israel, is a finance professional with broad experience in all aspects of fund-raising, M&A, accounting and financial management. Mr Hasidim has direct experience with private equity and public rounds, financial consulting and venture capital. Mr Hasidim has previously been CFO & COO of several life-sciences startups. Mr Hasidim has also held finance and administration management positions in many other start-up companies. Mr Hasidim graduated cum laude from the Hebrew University and holds an MBA in Finance and Information Systems and a BA (Dean's list) in Business and Economics.

Mrs Ruby Petersen
Financial analyst

Mrs Petersen (BSc, MBA, CFA charterholder) has worked as a structured finance analyst with Standard and Poor's, and has spent six years working at Nordea Bank, Denmark where she held positions as Vice President and Senior Credit Analyst in Structured Finance and Manager and Senior Analyst in Acquisition Finance. Mrs Petersen works on financial analysis, carbon finance planning and implementation.


Dr Tam Tran
Managing Director, Vietnam

Dr Tam Tran is a chemical engineer who led BHP's Central Research Laboratories R&D and commercialization projects in process manufacturing for seven years. Thereafter, as Professor of Chemical Engineering at UNSW, Dr Tran conducted applied chemical research and mentored over 40 PhD students. Dr Tran has been involved in the development of several patented processes in wastewater treatment and high purity material processing, and owns several patents in Australia and Korea. Dr Tran's work has been commercialised in Korea (production of high purity molybdenum chemicals using solvent extraction with Korean Ferro Alloys, recovery of gold from mine tailings) and in Vietnam, where he is currently based.

Dr Tran manages technology transfer projects related to renewable energy application, energy storage, natural and mineral resource development. Dr Tran is the leader of project teams establishing bio-fuel and wind power projects throughout Asia.

Mr Laurent Vuibert
Business Development, Singapore

Laurent Vuibert (MBA, ME), left the Sorbonne for six years in Shanghai, where he worked on business development in Asia with a focus on European-Chinese alliances. He uses those skills across different technologies and industries, for example, FMCG import to Europe for leading European importers, and more recently in manufacturing for export and shipbuilding for Sino-Pacific and Evergreen Industries, and other leading Chinese industrial and shipping companies. Mr Vuibert leads clean energy business development.

Dr Miranda Bien-Lim, company co-founder, holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Adelaide, Australia, and has been practising medicine since 2001. Dr Bien-Lim has a concurrent role as Psychiatry Medical Officer at the Singapore General Hospital. Dr Bien-Lim provides consultation on healthcare for communities in our sustainable development infrastructure projects, consultation on life sciences technologies, and contributes to CDM methodologies.

Professor Lars Bergquist, currently Visiting Research Professor of Marketing at the Graduate School of Business at Yonsei University, Seoul, Republic of Korea, specializes in brand management and marketing communications. In addition to his academic career, Professor Bergquist has several years' experience in the market research industry and has consulted to a wide variety of organizations and companies.

Professor Graeme Britton (DEng., PhD, BE (Hons), CEng, FIMechE, SnrMSME) is Dean of Science and Technology at Raffles University. Professor Britton offers strategic and technical advice on sustainable development technologies.

Mr Phil Cohen owns three consultancy firms and currently manages Asia-Pacific operations for Shipley tendering consultants, a firm which assists clients with over $100bn in bids every year. Mr Cohen assists with strategic direction and consultancy operations.

Professor Andrew Dzurak (PhD, BSc (Hons)) is NSW Director of the Australian National Fabrication Facility. He offers technical advice on advanced electronics, nanotechnology and applications.

Mr Geoffrey Edwards, who manages a number of joint-venture businesses and property developments in the Asia-Pacific region, has many years experience in one-on-one business strategy and mentoring, bringing people together to negotiate profitable business transactions and joint ventures.

Mr Henning Focks graduated as an economist in Germany 1989. He has eighteen years experience in business management and international sales of industrial goods and services. His company Green Energy Trading Pte Ltd develops biofuel plantations and renewable energy projects in South-East-Asia. Mr Focks develops renewable energy projects including hydropower, photovoltaic, geothermal and oil seed plantations. Mr Focks advises on renewable energy and biofuel projects applying sustainable procedures.

Mr Michael P. Hinterbrandner is a mechanical and process engineer, with particular experience in solar thermal cooling systems. Previously, Michael has been Commercial Manager of M+W Zander, a German wafer fabricator, and at Fichtner Consulting Engineers, he was Planner, Commercial Manager and Project Manger designing & building various types of power plants up to 600MW. Mr Hinterbrandner advises on mechanical engineering systems, airconditioning, waste heat recovery and cooling and solar thermal technologies.

Professor Donald Macintosh, Director of the Centre for Tropical Ecosystems Research at the University of Aarhus, is an internationally recognised leader in the fields of marine ecosystems. Professor Macintosh assists with environmental impact studies and sustainable development planning.

Professor Tim Roberts, of the School of Environmental and Life Sciences and Dean of the Singapore campus of the University of Newcastle, an immunologist and microbiologist, is an expert on characterization of microbial and chemical contaminants and water quantity dynamics in rainwater harvesting systems. Professor Roberts advises Biosphere Capital on water management.

Dr Antony A. Stark (BS, MA, PhD), of the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics, has worked as a research scientist and engineer at Caltech, LLNL, Princeton and Bell Laboratories. Dr Stark, who has designed and operated stand-alone systems for unattended operation at remote sites including Antarctica, advises on technologies and engineering design.

Ms Melissa Thompson (MEng, MLS, MIP, JD), who combines degrees in mechanical engineering and law, assists with business structures and patent and intellectual property law.

Dr Peter Waring (BCom(Hons), LLB(Hons), PhD) is an academic, lawyer and manager. Dr Waring has published many papers and two books on human resource management, industrial relations, organisational behaviour and negotiation and advocacy. Dr Waring assists with compliance and legal issues.
